Javier Johnson is an international swing dance instructor who is primarily focused on jazz era dances such as the Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa. His specialty is developing an understanding of how musical structure and body mechanics interact to create improvised communication between dancers and the music. For him fostering a connection with the African-american roots of the music and these dances is a critical component to swing dance education.
